About Me

Before becoming a counsellor/psychotherapist, I worked as a primary school teacher for over twenty years which included working as a SENCO and Inclusion Leader, where I had the opportunity to support and work with families of neurodiverse children. It was important to form positive relationships, and understand the issues that affect people’s lives.

Through my own challenges and lived experience, I turned to counselling at different stages in my life. I was able to see the benefits it offered me, and helped me focus on what my future was going to look like. This inspired me to train as a counsellor.

I then decided to set up my own practice. It was a new challenge for me, but with each year, I am building up my practice and gaining valuable experience. I have been practising for 5 years, and I have helped a wide range of clients on their personal journeys.

While training, I worked with a range of issues, and helped diverse clients navigate through their emotional pain. Issues included depression, trauma and identity.

During the pandemic, I developed my skills online. After the easing of restrictions, I continued to work face to face, and was flexible in my approach to ensure clients could access the support they needed.

I am committed to continuous professional development, and have attended courses that include relationships and relational depth. I believe the therapeutic relationship is essential in facilitating change. Also important, is that my own practice is culturally aware, inclusive and welcomes our differences.

Due to my lived experiences, I have a personal interest in women’s health and trauma, genealogy, ancestry, identity, using mindfulness, and restorative yoga practices. I also enjoy journaling and reading.
